Iloilo PDRRMC approves P454M Quinta rehab plan
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Long-term rehabilitation programs for the victims and damage wrought by tropical storm Quinta is expected to be in full swing soon.
This, as the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) chaired by Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. on Tuesday approved the rehabilitation plan after Quinta lashed Iloilo on December 26, 2012.
The rehabilitation plan covering three sectors, namely, economic, social services and infrastructure, involves a total amount of P454,357,980.
PDRRMC executive director Jerry Bionat said the funds will be taken from the trust fund of Iloilo provincial government’s calamity fund and from other sources like the national government and private sector donations.
The PDRRMC also approved the giving of financial assistance of P10,000 each to the families of the 15 casualties and P5,000 financial assistance to each household with totally damaged houses.
PDRRMC data showed that houses totally damaged by Quinta reached 1,042 while partially damaged houses reached 4,764. It further showed that 40,519 families in 372 barangays of 27 towns in Iloilo province were affected by the floods caused by the typhoon.
The damage on agriculture was estimated to reach P21.1 million while the damage on infrastructures reached an approximately P108 million.
