Brgy chair, nephew die in motorcycle accident

Jennifer P. Rendon - The Freeman

CALINOG, ILOILO, Philippines – A barangay chairman and his nephew died in a vehicular accident at Brgy. Canabajan in this town.

Abner Castor, 26, village chief of Malaguinabot of this town, and his nephew, 22-year-old Lusio Laureto, succumbed to injuries on the head, according to Calinog Police investigator SPO1 Elmer Sanchez.

The victims were on board a motorcycle driven by Castor himself when it crashed into the rear portion of a sugarcane truck parked along the highway shortly before midnight of Thursday.

Sanchez opined that Castor, who was Iloilo province’s youngest barangay chairman, might have failed to notice the early warning device because the area was dark.

The two victims, who came from Passi City, were believed to be drunk. On top of that, both were not wearing a crash helmet.  (FREEMAN)
