Brgy. Cadawinonan wins Sandurot Festival 2012

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines—The Barangay Cadawinonan contingent bested two other barangays in Dumaguete City during the Sandurot Festival Street Dancing and Showdown Saturday at the City Hall quadrangle.

The champion Barangay Cadawinonan earned major awards as best in street dancing and showdown, and minor awards, as best in costume, best in choreography and the Sandurot Queen.

The Sandurot King title was won by the bet from Barangay Bajumpandan, which got 2nd place in the Streetdance competition, followed by Barangay Tinago in 3rd place.

City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling, Jr. said, this year’s Sandurot Festival champion received P50,000, Second place winner received P30,000 and the third place winner received P20,000.

Barangay Cadawinonan will represent Dumaguete in the Buglasan Festival next year, Maquiling said. —(FREEMAN)
