Bullet-riddled bodies found in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Police authorities are investigating two separate incidents about two persons who were found dead in the city and in Anilao town of Iloilo.
Chief Inspector Efren Lozada, chief of Iloilo City Police Station 5, identified the first victim as Bryan Diaz, 34, of Brgy. Bitoon, Jaro district, this city, whose body was found by a tanod in a pathway going to the old Iloilo airport, near a rows of fishpond, at around 9:55 p.m. Tuesday.
Examination later revealed that Diaz succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body, with the bullets piercing through his chest, back of the body and neck. Several empty shells of a yet undetermined caliber firearm were found at the scene.
Lozada said his men are still investigating because no one saw or heard a gunfire that could indicate that the man was shot dead in the area.
The second victim, Kim Mijares, 33, a resident of Brgy. Sta. Isabel of Jaro district in the city, was found at 5:30 a.m. yesterday at Brgy. San Carlos in Anilao, Iloilo.
Senior Inspector Engelbert Banquillo, chief of the Anilao Police, said they first received report of a vehicular accident in the area. A resident initially thought that Mijares’ driven vehicle, a Hyundai Getz (ZAW-381), had an accident because it rammed the shoulder of the road.
When police responded, Mijares was slumped on his seat with his head and body bent at the front passenger seat. The victim had gunshot wounds on the left portion of the stomach and right side of the neck, said Banquillo.
Investigation showed that at about 10 p.m. of Tuesday, Mijares, who was alone in his car, passed by the town market and asked several youngsters for direction in going to sitio Ilawod of Brgy. San Carlos.
“It’s possible that whoever the person he met was the one who killed him,” Banquillo said, adding that the gunman could had been inside the car because there was no sign that the gunshot was done from outside. (FREEMAN)
