- The Philippine Star

TAGBILARAN CITY Philippines   – Police units in the Visayas are ready for next year’s elections.

This was the assessment of Director General Nicanor Bartolome who presided over the command conference in Bohol participated in by PNP officials from Regions 6, 7 and 8.

The command conference was held at Camp Dagohoy and was hosted by Bohol Provincial Police Director Col. Constantino Barot, Jr. It was the first time that a command conference was held in Bohol.

Bartolome described the situation in the three regions as “very encouraging,” taking note of the decreasing number of crimes in these areas. No details or figures were given, however.

Still, despite the positive assessment, Bartolome said the need to continually enhance the capability of policemen in crime solving and prevention remains. His standing order: “cover every inch and corner.”

The command conference also gave local policemen in Bohol to get to know their superiors, including Police Director Jaime Calungsod, Director Elpidio Asis, Jr., Director Amador Corpuz, Director for Intelligence Ager Ontog; Director for Operations Samuel Dician; and Director for Logistics Arnulfo Perez.

Region 6 Director Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Region 7 Director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, and Region 8 Director Chief Supt. Elmer Soria were present at the conference.

Also during the command conference, Bartolome awarded the “Medalyang Kagalingan” to Garbo, Barot, Senior Supt. Louie Oppus of Region 7, Lapu-Lapu City Police Director Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas; Senior Insp. Maria Theresa Macatangay, Chief Insp. Renee Kyamko, Senior Insp. Gregoria Sanchez and SPO4 Bernardo Templa of Bohol.
