BORONGAN CITY, E. SAMAR, Philippines – A hydro-electric plant is being eyed to be developed in this part of Eastern Samar province, to ease the perennial problem of power interruptions here.
City Administrator Dayan Agda said that there is a possibility for the power plant to be constructed, given the four giant rivers surrounding the city: the Borongan river, Loom river, Suribao river and Loom.
Agda read this statement on behalf of City Mayor Ma. Fe Abunda during the 30th Annual General Assembly of the Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative (ESAMELCO).
Should this happen, power cost in Borongan would drop and investors and factory owners might just grab the cheaper input and do business in the city, said Agda.
