Charges filed vs soldier, lover
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — An allegedly philandering soldier and his lover, who were caught by the wife in a motel here, are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
Inspector Jovy Cabcaban of the Women and Children’s Concern Desk (WCCD) of the Bacolod City Police Office said a complaint of psychological violence was filed yesterday against the two at the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office, not concubinage charges because they were not caught in the act of sexual intercourse.
The husband is a corporal assigned at the 303rd Infantry Brigade based in Murcia, Negros Occidental while the alleged paramour is an employee of the provincial government.
The wife, a staff sergeant, also of 303rd IBde, immediately filed charges against her husband before the WCCD after her husband and her lover went out of the motel room last Friday.
Colonel Oscar Lactao, 303rd IBde commander, said he ordered an investigation on the case of the corporal to determine his administrative liability.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., for his part, said he will order an investigation on the woman employee, if the wife of the “philandering” husband will complain before his office.
