CEBU, Philippines - Nineteen contingents of dancers, consisting of teachers from the City DepEd and 17 groups of merrymakers performed in the 2012 Sangyaw’s first Parade of Lights Festival last June 29, as part of the city’s fiesta celebration.
Two special contingents from Basey, Samar and Limasawa, Southern Leyte also joined the parade along city streets that ended at the Balyuan Amphitheater, near the City Hall, where the various groups concluded their competition.
Mayor Alfred Romualdez and his wife, Councilor Cristina Romualdez, lead officials of the city government in the fiesta spectacle.
Senator Bongbong Marcos, Jr. and Reps. Martin Romualdez, Cynthia Villar and Teddy Casiño, along with Mining Chamber president Philip Romualdez and GMA stars Bianca King, Vaness del Moral and Gwen Zamora, joined in the parade of 20 floats bedecked with LED lights.
Each of the float carried a theme depicting local history, flora and fauna of the region and city landmarks, among others, shaped by lights imaginatively decorated by a team from Manila. A fireworks display followed after the shows. —, tacloban.gov.ph
