N. Samar marks 47th founding year
CATARMAN, N. SAMAR, Philippines — The province of Northern Samar will celebrate its 47th founding anniversary on June 19 with the theme, “I Love Northern Samar.”
The weeklong celebration, according to a PIA-8 report, started last June 8 with the Search for Miss Northern Samar 2012 held at the University of Eastern Philippines, followed by the first Northern Samar Boardsports Festival last June 9 and 10 at UEP White Beach Resort.
One of the highlights for this year’s anniversary was the Governor’s Report to Nortehanons or State of the Province Address by Governor Paul Daza held last June 11 during the session of the Provincial Board.
Governor Daza presented a 45-minute report at the session attended by Representative Raul Daza, heads of local and national agencies, academe, mayors, officials of the 803rd Infantry Brigade and the Philippine National Police and representatives of the Catholic Church and the media.
On June 15 (Friday) the activities are the blessing of the product display booth at Catarman Bus Terminal, the Talento Ibabaonon Variety Show at UEP Amphitheater and the Job Fair also at UEP. There will also be a soccer tournament on June 15 and 17 at the Catarman I Central School.
From June 16 to 19 will be the SME Caravan, Trade Fair and Diskwento at the Sacred Heart Plaza. On June 16 also will be the Shooting Competition at the 803rd Ibde camp.
On June 17 will be the Nortehanons Songwriting Competition Grand Finals at the Catarman Freedom Park, and a boxing tournament at the Capitol Grounds.
On June 18 will be a Health Clinic and Wellness Workshop at the Capitol and Ibabao Hall, followed by the Anniversary Mass at Ibabao Hall and Family Day at UEP White Beach Resort on June 19.
Republic Act 4221 created the provinces of Northern Samar, Eastern Samar and Western Samar.
