Dumaguete Diocese to host CMAG games

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Members of the clergy from the four dioceses of Negros Island are converging in Dumaguete City on Thursday for the regular meeting of the Church-Military Advisory Group (CMAG) and friendly sporting competitions in three different ballgames.

Participating in the regular monthly CMAG meeting are the Social Action Center directors of the dioceses of Dumaguete, Bacolod, San Carlos and Kabankalan.

Father Burton Villarmente, head of the SAC of the Diocese of Dumaguete, said the CMAG meeting shall also be attended by key officials of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army of various units in Negros Island.

The meeting will discuss immediate concerns faced by the CMAG in relation to one of its objectives of violence prevention and promoting peace, said Villarmente.

In the afternoon, priests from the different dioceses, as well as police and military teams, will be pitted against each other in friendly games of lawn tennis, basketball and badminton, he added. —(FREEMAN)
