Gunman of NIA engineer still at large

- Angeline Valencia/JMO -

ALICIA, Bohol, Philippines  - Police are still clueless on the motive of the shooting of the service vehicle of a senior engineer of the National Irrigation Administration last Friday.

The lone suspect who was on board a motorcycle without a plate number remains at large. The case was another lapse in the crime prevention efforts of the police through the no plate, no travel policy.

The passenger, Franklin Fusingan, had just been appointed by NIA-7 Acting Regional Manager Diosdado Rosales January this year.

Prior to his promotion, Fusingan, 57, a resident of Pilar, had been attending to concerns regarding services to irrigators.

He was on board an Isuzu Fuego bearing plate no. SGT 667 driven by Eusebio Raya when the incident occurred at around 5:40 p.m.

The vehicle was traveling along the highway in Barangay La Hacienda in Alicia heading to Fusingan’s home in Pilar when an unidentified man on board a Kawasaki motorcycle blocked them.

When they came to a full stop, the unidentified man fired at the car, hitting the bumper. He immediately fled.

Operation is ongoing to identify the suspect.

“Hopefully, it was just an isolated robbery attempt,” Rosales said.  (FREEMAN)
