Floods hit 182 families in two Negros Occ cities

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A total of 182 families in the cities of Sagay and Cadiz in Negros Occidental have evacuated Tuesday when their barangays were hit by floods brought by continuous heavy rains.

According to a report of Provincial Social Welfare Officer Liane Garcia to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. on Wednesday, there were 119 families affected in Brgy. Paraiso and 40 families in Brgy. Fabrica, both in Sagay City.

Those from Paraiso were evacuated to Central Lopez and to Holy Family, while those from Fabrica were taken to the barangay hall.

In Cadiz, there were 23 families affected in Brgy. Tiglawigan and they were evacuated to the Paniquion Elementary School. No report was submitted yet on how many families were affected in Brgy. Luna, also in Cadiz.

As of Wednesday, floodwaters had subsided and the evacuees have already returned home and started rehabilitation activities, Garcia reported. - THE FREEMAN
