BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — At least 21 houses were either damaged or destroyed after a tornado hit a village in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Monday, Bombo Radyo reported yesterday.
Barangay Bantayan captain Oscar Abajon said seven of these houses were destroyed, including the house of their barangay councilor.
The tornado caused power failure in the village as electric wires were damaged, although no one was hurt in the incident, the report said.
The displaced families are now staying in an evacuation center, and are receiving assistance from their barangay, added the report. (THE FREEMAN)
