CARIGARA, LEYTE, Philippines – Lieutenant Col. Alejandro Nacnac, commanding officer of the 19th Infantry Battalion, said he was confident that project linkages with the Municipal Farmers Association of Carigara (MUFAC) would be realized.
Nacnac held a dialogue with MUFAC officers recently and offered his troops for “bayanihan” especially on projects that would be beneficial to the farmers of this town.
“I believe we can achieve more if we combine our resources. We may not be the right people but we can link you to the proper agency that can best address our farmers dilemma,” Nacnac said.
MUFAC chairperson Mamerta Dagalea said the association, which has a membership of 6,000 persons with 46 chapters out of the town’s 49 barangays, has been extending assistance such as seeds to its members and setting up communal gardens and irrigation systems in this town.
Nacnac hoped that the partnership of MUFAC and 19th IB will work this time, and he further urged MUFAC not to be deceived and utilized by NPA-allied organizations. - THE FREEMAN
