PANIT-AN, CAPIZ, Philippines – A 17-year-old girl, later claiming she could not take the rowdiness of her uncle, 58-year-old Atlantico Magbanua, struck him to death with a bamboo pole at sitio Busay in Barangay Poblacion of this town.
Magbanua was rushed to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City but he died while undergoing treatment.
The girl was brought by her mother to the Panit-an Police.
During the preliminary questioning, the girl claimed she had no intention of killing her uncle, who was reportedly under the influence of liquor, and she only got irritated by his noise and unruliness.
The irate girl got hold of a bamboo pole and struck Magbanua on the head to silence him, but the strike was too forceful that the victim lost consciousness as a result, police report said.
Senior Supt. Domingo Cabillan said the police are waiting for the family’s decision whether to pursue criminal charges against the juvenile suspect. - THE FREEMAN
