- May Joven -

ILOILO CITY, Philippines  — Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. declared his full support to the housing programs of Vice President Jejomar Binay, also the chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

The governor made this statement during the ceremony for the Pabahay Caravan at Sarabia Manor Hotel on Tuesday (Nov. 8) attended by stakeholders in the housing sector.

He said he is confident that under Binay's leadership the housing program in the country will take a big leap, and the local leadership in Iloilo province will do everything to help make the vice-president's programs successful.

"This man (Binay) understands the problem on housing ... he fully understands the meaning and parameters of housing ... that is why I am very sure many of our people will reach their dream of having a house," Defensor told The FREEMAN.

Binay was in Iloilo recently to launch the Western Visayas Pabahay Caravan. He graced the groundbreaking of the proposed Kahilwayan Village housing project in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

Binay also witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Pag-IBIG Fund and ten local government units in Western Visayas for the Pag-IBIG Group Housing Loan Program.

The LGUs were Sta. Barbara, Leganes, Janiuay, Estancia, and Lambunao in Iloilo; Cadiz City, Sipalay City and Manapla in Negros Occidental, Pan-ay in Capiz, and Malay in Aklan.

Binay said Pag-IBIG will provide technical and financial assistance to the LGUs to ensure that their housing programs are carried out successfully. (FREEMAN)
