CAFGU man's link to bizman's slay probed
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines - Authorities have continued their investigation on the alleged involvement of a member of the 12th Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) battalion of the Philippine Army based in Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City, for his alleged involvement in the killing of a businessman in Sibulan town last week.
Police said the suspect, Ramel Dong-coy, resident of Brgy. Malaunay in Valencia town, voluntarily surrendered to the Tanjay Police, which in turn yielded him to the Commission on Human Rights Monday evening and signed a waiver of protective custody.
Dong-coy, in an interview, admitted to reporters of his participation in killing of Demetrio Larena III in Sibulan town last week
Dong-coy said he arrived at the victim's beach house at about 7 a.m. Thursday to look for his girlfriend, identified as Evangeline Sedillo, cousin of Espedita who was the wife of Jerry Enocerta.
The Enocerta couple were the caretaker of the victim's beach house and Jerry was the brother of Jimmy, one of the suspected gunmen along with a certain Misael.
In a joint affidavit, special investigators Nicanor Ernesto Tagle and Marlon Manzanaris of the NBI here said that Dong-coy was among the three persons whom Jerry had confided in about the alleged relationship between his wife Espedita and their employer.
The Enocertas, Dong-coy and two others have allegedly gathered at the Larena beach house in Cangmating, Sibulan to plan out their move to eliminate the victim the night before the crime was perpetrated.
The NBI agents further said that, based on the text messages and call logs of the recovered cellphones of the victim and that of Espedita, and their admissions during inquest proceedings Monday, they were able to establish that Dongcoy was also present at the crime scene that morning. (FREEMAN)
