Bike Lanes ordinance approved

BACOLOD CITY ,Philippines  - An ordinance establishing bike lanes, or bike-friendly zones, along several streets in Bacolod was approved by the City Council on third and final reading Wednesday.

Authored by Councilor Em Ang and co-authored by Councilor Roberto Rojas, the ordinance provides for the establishment of bike lanes along Burgos Street-Circumferential Road up to Brgy. Alangilan and the Bacolod-Murcia Road, Brgy. Alijis to Bacolod-Murcia boundary, and Brgy. Mansilingan.

The ordinance states that there is a need to establish bike lanes and bike-friendly zones in order to safeguard bikers from accidents and other road-related incidents.

The sites for the lanes were recommended by the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office/Traffic Management Unit, it added.
