DTI-Leyte extends office services to Hilongos town

- Edgar Allan Vilbar -

HILONGOS, LEYTE, Philippines – The services of the Department of Trade and Industry-Leyte provincial office has been made accessible farther to this southern part of Leyte.

This was after Desiderio Belas Jr., DTI-Leyte director, brought to Hilongos the agency’s caravan, in a two-day activity, serving clients in the area.

Belas explained his office’s caravan was important so clients will be informed of the various programs of DTI.

“Because of the considerable distance of our provincial office located in Tacloban City to Hilongos, it will be a burden to any entrepreneur to visit us, thus we are bringing our services to your doorstep,” he told the clients during the opening program.

Prospective businessmen and those who were already in the trade later attended the workshop, which gave advises on the financial aspects, taught how to start a business and how to improve it.

Belas later announced his ongoing discussion with Mayor Jose Emery Roble for the setting up of an ‘on line business name registration’ in Hilongos. The mayor had responded favorably to this, saying that this was part of his vision for tourism and investment promotion of his town.

Roble, in welcoming the DTI and participants, expounded the importance of being a legitimate businessman.

“While local permits are required, DTI registration is vital for our own protection against bogus entrepreneurs,” said Roble.

A shipping magnate, Roble shared his experiences in complying with a lot of requirements for a business.

“There is always a feeling of security and a sense of accomplishment aside from the assurance that privileges and fast tracking of transactions to both government and private financial institutions will be afforded unto you,” he said. - THE FREEMAN
