Real estate agent slain
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A real estate agent was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at a busy street of Ledesma in this city.
Chief Insp. Efren Lozada, Iloilo City Police Station 1 commander, said the victim, identified as Richard Cesar of Jordan town in Guimaras, succumbed to three gunshot wounds-two on the back of his body and another on his elbow.
An ID taken from the victim showed that he was employed with Henann Land and Development Corp., but it was learned later that he was also working as broker for other real estate firms.
Witnesses claimed that Cesar bought a tabloid at a newsstand and was reading it at the doorstep of a store selling agricultural products.
Shortly after, two men wearing helmets and riding in tandem on a motorcycle stopped, the backrider alighted and fired his gun at Cesar several times before speeding off to an undisclosed direction.
Cesar was then taken to the Iloilo Doctors' Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The police has yet to determine the motive of the killing, and neither could the victim's common-law wife who could only said that a land dispute might have something to do with the incident.
