DTI secretary expected to keynote CV SME Summit

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines —The Department of Trade and Industry will highlight success stories of small and medium enterprises during the Central Visayas Region SME Summit this Friday, July 22, at the Metrocentre Hotel, this city.

During the event, DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo is expected to give a keynote speech on the “Spurring MSME Development” which will focus on harnessing technologies for SME development.

DTI-Bohol Provincial Director Maria Elena Arbon will lead the launching of the Bohol Products Website.

DTI-7 Regional Director Asteria Caberte said the summit is aimed at disseminating the strategies on improving the competitiveness of the priority sectors in the Central Visayas Region.

The summit will also showcase the success stories of entrepreneurs who implemented strategies which led to the growth of their companies.

The summit will be anchored on the theme, “Greening and Winning Business Strategies,” in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Dr. Volker Steigerwald, program manager of GGIZ-PSP, will delve on the Systematic Competitiveness Framework of SME Development and the MSME Development Strategies for the Priority Sectors of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

Uwe Sturmann, component adviser of GIZ-PSP, will discuss the Bohol Virtual Tourism MSME Map.

Governor Edgar Chatto, Provincial Tourism Council Chair Lucas Nunag, Caberte and Steigerwald will lead the turn-over ceremony of the Bohol Virtual Tourism MSME Map to the Bohol SMEDC and the Bohol Tourism Council.

Among those who will share experiences in “Greening and Winning Business Strategies” are Catigbian Mayor Roberto Salinas, Rommel Juan—president of Binalot Fiesta Foods, Inc., Engr. Ramir Bonghanoy—president of Bon Ace Fashion Tools, Pete Delantar—president of Nature’s Legacy, and Ren Jose Stuart del Rosario—president of Green Gold Gourmet. -  THE FREEMAN
