Inmate's use of toothbrush, spoon as sex toys stopped
ILOILO CITY, Philippines – The use of toothbrush and spoon for sexual stimulation among inmates of the Iloilo Provincial Integrated Jail (IPIJ) is a thing of the past.
IPIJ warden Joel Superficial admitted that the use of toothbrush and spoon as improvised sex toys was done among inmates before. “But now, such practice doesn’t happen anymore,” he said.
Superficial said some inmates had found sexual uses of these items the reason why, aside from monitoring deadly weapons and other contrabands, the IPIJ has been on guard against the entry of toothbrushes and spoons into the prison cells.
“That’s why, we don’t allow inmates to use hard plastic toothbrush. As a rule, we tell them to only use traveler’s toothbrush,” he said, adding that spoons were also used to put ball bearings, or commonly known as “bulitas,” on men’s genitals.
Superficial however the jail management has not been too complacent about the absence of spoons and toothbrushes inside the cells because, aside from being used as sex toys, these items are the most common improvised weapons in jails.
Without spoons and toothbrushes, Superficial noted that the prisoners have destroyed portions of their bed bunks and made these into improvised knifes. – THE FREEMAN
