ILOILO CITY, Philippines - – A reliable source of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division revealed that members of the New People’s Army have been sneaking a considerable number of guns and ammunitions from their Komiteng Rehiyonal-Panay (KR-P) to their comrades of the Komiteng Rehiyonal-Negros.
It was not elaborated though on how the rebels transported the firearms and ammunition, but military officials said the rebels have managed to transport several of these items to their comrades.
Reports said that these rebels could be operating in the central and southern parts of Panay. “But it was not in volume,” said 301st Infantry Brigade commander Col. Caesar Ronnie Ordoyo.
“As expected, they have plans of launching offensive attacks in Negros. But our troops in the area are ready to counter them,” he said, adding that troops of the 303rd Infantry Brigade were alerted to intercept this transport.
This movement of guns and ammos apparently boosted earlier intelligence reports that a good number of rebels in Panay have laid low and opted to go out of the NPA movement. – (FREEMAN)
