On lease of building at Paglaum Capitol warns vs. "brokers"

- Danny B. Dangcalan -

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  - The public, especially businessmen, is being warned by the provincial government against unscrupulous persons pretending to be "brokers" or middlemen for the leasing of commercial spaces of the proposed three-storey building at the Paglaum Sports Complex.

Provincial legal officer Jose Ma. Valencia issued this warning Thursday when two businessmen called his office to confirm if it is true that the provincial government is already receiving applicants for the lease of commercial spaces, because they were approached by somebody to arrange it for them.

"How could that be when we haven't even started the construction of the building yet?" Valencia asked. "We have not authorized anybody (to do so)," he said, adding that his office is still investigating the claims of the two businessmen against this yet unidentified "brokers."

Once the spaces are ready for lease, the Capitol would be sending out proper notifications to the public, Valencia said, adding that the construction of the building is planned to start in July and to be finished by the end of this year.—
