DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — The city government here will establish a Tree Park soon inside the septage facility in Barangay Camanjac.

City administrator William Ablong said the city, for this purpose, will continue with its tree planting activity inside the facility with the help Friends of Environment of Negros Oriental and the Brgy. Camanjac council headed by barangay chairman Bartolome Aranas.

The Couples for Christ will also plant trees here on June 12, said Ablong adding that at least 50 couples are expected to do the job.

The City Environment Natural Resources Office will prepare the seedlings for the tree planting, he said.

Meanwhile, the city Environment Natural Resources Office (ENRO) also lined up some activities in observance of the Environment Month celebration this June.

Arman Adanza of the ENRO said that, on June 4, the City Tourism Council will conduct the tree planting activity inside the septage facility.

On June 17 through 30 an environmental exhibit will be held inside the Robinsons mall in cooperation with different LGUs of Negros Oriental. On June 24, the city will conduct a cleanup of the waters and coastal areas.

The environment month observance will be opened today with a "walk-clean-and-bike for the environment" activity.

The Environment and Natural Resources Division of the provincial government, in coordination with the Metro Dumaguete Road Runners Club and groups of bikers, will identify areas in Metro Dumaguete that need to be cleaned up. — THE FREEMAN
