Police manhunt on vs. "acetylene" burglars of Dumaguete Pawnshop
DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – A manhunt operation is now being conducted by the City Police to identify and arrest the suspects who carted away a still undetermined worth of assorted pieces of jewelry in last Tuesday’s burglary of the Dumaguete Pawnshop.
Chief Insp. Romulo LLado, officer of the day (OD) of the Dumaguete Police Station at the time, said that at around 9:15 a.m. pawnshop’s security guard Edmedio Sencia called up to report about the burglary.
Llado said policemen immediately responded and went to site of the pawnshop owned by Javier and Tizana Teves of Rovira Road in Bantayan.
Initial investigation showed that the burglars went inside the pawnshop by getting into and crawling through the drainage that was connected to the establishment.
Using acetylene, they cut the iron grills of the pawnshop and, once inside, took the assorted pieces of jewelry from the glass showcase and left.
Responding policemen recovered from inside the establishment the acetylene equipment, a hacksaw, a hammer and a t-shirt that the police suspected to belong to the perpetrators. – THE FREEMAN
