DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — The city government and the City Tourism Council yesterday launched the 5th Kabulakan Festival at the Kiosk Area in Quezon Park.
Andrey Noel Tumulak, city tourism officer, said theme for this year's month-long festival is "Kabulakan Festival: Nagpakabana ug Nag-amping sa Bahandi sa Kinaiyahan."
The kickoff activity opened with a Mass celebrated by Fr. Julius Heruela, rector of the Diocese of Dumaguete, followed by the launching of the beautification project of Rizal Boulevard and the Harden sa Barangay.
Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria officially opened the festival, which will include the search for Kabulakan King and Queen, the Tocino Festival on May 6, Flower Arrangement Competition on May 7, Kabulakan Food Festival from May 13 to 15, Agro Fair and Lectures on Climate Change and Preservation of the Environment on May 18-19, Kasalang Filipino sa Dumaguete: Maanyag nga Mugna on May 20-22, and the Kabulakan Fest street dancing on May 21. — THE FREEMAN
