Aliwan Festival 2011: Iloilo bets finish 1-2

ILOILO CITY , Philippines  — The Tribu Pan-ay of Dinagyang Festival and Tribu Pantat (Zarraga, Iloilo) of Kasadyahan Festival won as champion and second placer, respectively, in this year's Aliwan Festival of Festivals competition held in Manila on Saturday.

The two, both first-time performers, defeated 16 other festivals from various provinces and cities in the country.

Lembuhong Festival (Surallah, South Cotabato) placed 3rd, Calacatchara Festival (Calaca, Batangas) in 4th place, and Pandang Guitab Festival (Calapan, Oriental Mindoro) in 5th place.

Runners-up were Boling boling Festival (Catanauan, Quezon); Kalimudan Festival (Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, Zamboanga); Hermosa Festival (Zamboanga City); Panagbenga Festival (Baguio City); and Pakalog Festival (Pasig City).

For the Best in Float competition, the Biday a Pinangasturian (Buluan, Maguindanao) was the winner, while Kumpit sa Kutawato (Cotabato City) was 1st runner-up, and Singkaban (Bulacan) 2nd runner-up.

Runners-up were Pantat Festival (Zarraga, Iloilo); Catanauan Festival (Quezon); Sinulog Festival (Cebu); Kudungan Festival (Sultan Kudarat); Calacatchara Festival (Calaca, Batangas); Sarimanok Festival (Maguindanao); and Panagbenga Festival (Baguio City).

For the Reyna ng Aliwan pageant, Rogelie Catacutan of Cebu City got this year's title, with Christine Kate Adi of Baguio City, the 1st runner-up, and Jeremy Evans (Santiago, Isabela); Bernadette Chiu (Bulacan); and Dominique Braun (Zarraga, Iloilo) tied for 2nd runner-up.
