Panaad Fest showcases agri products for livelihood

- Danny B. Dangcalan -

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines —Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said one of the features of the 18th Panaad sa Negros Festival is a showcase of agricultural products that could help in the livelihood of Negrenses.

"We are showcasing agricultural products as models which the Negrenses can follow. We have seeds that we can give out, egg machines they can follow, and dispersal of native chicken, swine and goats," he said yesterday.

He said the provincial government is preparing livelihood programs for returning Negrense overseas workers especially those from strife-torn countries, and this display of livelihood projects is an example which they can follow.

On exhibit at the Panaad Stadium from April 4 to 9 for the weeklong Panaad Festival are the Negros Best Products Display, Negros First Food Security Fair, Livestock and Dairy Products Fair, and Eco-Garden and Wellness Show.

The 32 towns and cities are also displaying in their respective pavilions their own individual tourism and trade products.

A 'Pinaka' (the most) contest is also ongoing at the Panaad Stadium for the event of farmers and fisherfolk titled, "Pasidungog sa Mangunguma kag Mangingisda sa Panaad." This brings to the fore the valuable contributions of farmers and fisherfolk in providing food for the table. (FREEMAN)
