7 Eastern Visayas OFWs arrive in Tacloban
TACLOBAN CITY , Philippines - Seven out of the 143 overseas workers from strife-torn Libya, listed in the regional office of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, arrived Friday morning in this city.
The OFWs were received by OWWA-8 acting head Juliet Tan, who told The FREEMAN that the repatriated workers would be given P10,000 each, as financial assistance from the government.
Tan also said that OWWA-8 is continuing to monitor the situation of the workers' safety in the troubled country and earlier set up the 24/7 "Libreng Tawag" to help communication needs of OFWs from Eastern Visayas and their families here.
The seven OFWs, upon their arrival, seemed unfazed by their experience in Libya, even saying they would return there once normalcy is restored.
Two of them said their coming home was just a vacation and would return to work once the vacation is over.
The OFWs who arrived from Libya were Silverio Jazmines and Sherwin Caharop, both of Tacloban City, Manolito Jaboli of Catbalogan City, Alfredo Gaspay of Burauen, Leyte. And Rodel Cinco of Ormoc City.
