- Edgar Allan Vilbar -

ORMOC CITY , Philippines  — A city government job order employee stabbed dead his fellow worker, who was also his brother-in-law, in their neighborhood at Brgy. Cogon in this city at about 6:45 p.m. the other day.

Senior Insp. Shevert Alvin Machete, chief of Police Station 1, said the victim Ursus Bustria, 45, suffered stab wounds in his chest and abdomen, and was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr Jesus Castro, Jr. of the Ormoc District Hospital.

The suspect, Hermilito Sulapas, was the husband of Vilma, sister of the fatality, was the one who reported the incident to the police. Initial investigation showed that Bustria went outside their house at that time when Sulapas stabbed him with a long bolo without any provocation.

The suspect quickly left the scene and was theorized to have escaped to his hometown of Surigao City. Policemen conducted a manhunt, and had detailed some personnel in bus terminals to seal any possible escape route.

The manhunt reached Merida town and, yesterday, Sulapas accompanied by City Councilor Filomeno Maglasang surrendered to the police. He is now detained at the police jail.
