Norwegian man commits suicide

BACONG, NEGROS ORIENTAL — A 40-year-old Norwegian national was found dead Sunday morning after hanging himself with a rope around his neck to the wood truss of his rented house in barangay Sac-sac of this town.

Senior Inspector Leofoldo Ijan, town police chief, identified the victim as Roar Johnsen whose body was found by house owner, PO2 Arnel Celis, a policeman assigned to the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office.

Scene of the Crime Operatives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation while Dr. Vivien Maria Ceniza, municipal health officer, also performed a post-mortem examination on the body of the Norwegian man.

There was no foul play involved in the death of Johnsen, but investigators have invited his 26-year-old girlfriend to determine if she had prior knowledge about problems or causes that drove the foreigner to commit suicide, said Ijan.

Johnsen's remains is now at a funeral shop in the town, while waiting for his family to claim his body.— (FREEMAN)
