University of the East remains unbeaten in SSL

MANILA, Philippines — Casiey Dongallo starred as University of the East stayed undefeated in the Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The incoming sophomore fired 11 points on 10 hits and an ace as the Lady Warriors swept past the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15, for a 2-0 slate in Pool B.

It was a massive improvement for Dongallo, a former Shakey’s girls MVP, after bleeding for a single point in UE’s 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-14 comeback win over NCAA bet Lyceum U in the opener.

The Lady Warriors hardly needed the services of other ace Jelai Gajero, who sat out in the UAAP last year due to an ACL injury, as she only played in the first set for a lone point after erupting for 20 points against LPU.

In her place, Riza Nogales contributed eight while Bea Zamudio, Yesha Rojo and Kayce Balingit chipped in five each for the Lady Warriors.

Cyrill Almeniana was the lone bright spot for the Lady Altas (0-1) with 11 points.
