26 dayuhan kinasuhan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines Umaabot na sa 26 dayuhan ang tuluyang kinasuhan dahil sa ilegal na pagpasok at pangingisda sa karagatan ng Batanes.

Ayon sa pamunuan ng Bu­ reau of Fisheries and Aqua­tic Resources, na na­nguna sa multi-sectoral Anti-Poaching Task Force, ang mga dayuhang Vietnamese, Taiwanese at Chinese) ay naaresto sa mag­kakahiwalay na lugar sa Ba­tanes.

“The foreign fishermen were already (criminally and administratively) charged for illegal fishing and poaching which is in violation of the Fisheries Code of the Philippines (particularly Section 87 of Republic Act No. 8550),” pahayag ni Dr. Jovita Ayson, BFAR director ng Cagayan Valley.   

Unang naaresto ang siyam na mangingisdang Vietnamese sa karagatan ng Sabtang Island, Bata­nes, sinundan ng 12 iba pang Vietnamese at ang pinakahuli ay 5 Taiwanese at Chinese na kapwa naak­tuhan sa karagatan ng Ba­tanes at nagsagawa ng ilegal na pangingisda.

Noong 2008 ay uma­abot naman sa 100 dayu­han ang napatunayang guilty at kasalukuyang nakakulong dahil din sa ilegal na pagpasok at pa­ngingisda. Victor Martin
