Pagbuhay sa peace talks sa CPP-NPA-NDF, ibinasura
MANILA, Philippines — Ibinasura nitong Sabado ni Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. ang panukalang buhayin muli ang nabalam na peace talks sa Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) sa pagsasabing nasa landas na ng kapayapaan ang mga Pilipino.
Sinabi ni Teodoro na ang NPA rebels, ang armed wing ng CPP-NDF ay patuloy sa paghahasik ng terorismo na sinisira ang kapayapaan sa kanayunan kaya’t hindi dapat magpalinlang ang gobyerno sa mga ito.
“The group’s actions are criminal and terrorism and not a legitimate political struggle,” punto ni Teodoro.
Ginawa ni Teodoro ang pahayag kaugnay ng pagsusulong ni Presidential Peace Adviser Mel Senen Sarmiento ng kakaibang pamamaraan sa lokal na peace talks at reintegration programs. Ang nasabing istratehiya ay nakapokus sa diyalogo sa antas ng komunidad, amnestiya at suporta sa serbisyo na naglalayong matugunan ang ugat ng armadong pakikibaka at hikayatin ang mga rebelde na magbalikloob sa pamahalaan.
“The Filipinos are at peace. They are the ones disturbing the peace, so why should we talk to them? They’re committing crimes, plain and simple. And it’s terrorism. To call for peace talks is to elevate the morality of their cause to something legitimate, which I cannot accept,” giit ng Kalihim.
