MANILA, Philippines — Inanunsyo kahapon ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na sinabing committed ang Kamara at ang Department of Agriculture (DA) na magtulungan upang maabot ang hangaring mas maging abot kaya ang presyo ng bigas para sa mga Pilipino partikular na sa mga mahihirap.
“We are confident that it is possible to offer rice below P30 per kilo as early as July this year. The Department of Agriculture (DA) is currently identifying the areas where affordable, well-milled rice will be made available to the public,” ayon kay Romualdez.
Sinabi ni Romualdez bagaman hindi pa ito lubusang maipatutupad sa buong bahagi ng bansa ay maaari naman aniyang simulan na ito sa mga piling lugar na tutukuyin ng mga opisyal ng DA.
Inihayag ni Romualdez na ang hangarin para maibaba sa mas mababa sa P30 kada kilo ang bigas ay matapos namang matukoy ng mga lider ng Kamara at ng DA ang mga pagkukulang sa implementasyon ng Rice Tariffication Law na dapat matugunan sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan at sangay ng lehislatibo at ehekutibo ng pamahalaan.
“Starting in July, some of these KADIWA centers will be operational in specific regions and will offer affordable, well-milled rice five days a week. The operation of these centers will depend on the rice supply available to the National Food Authority,” wika ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel.
