Team Philippines naka-silver sa ABG

MANILA, Philippines — Hindi nababakante sa me­dalya ang Team Philippines matapos magtakbo ng silver medal ang wo­men’s sprint team, habang swak ang Alas Pilipinas beach volleyball squads sa quarterfinals sa 6th Asian Beach Games kahapon sa Sanya, China.

Inangkin ni Jessica Rose Laurance ang pilak ka­­tuwang sina Shane Joy Ponce, Lianne Diana Pama at Olympian Kristina Marie Knott sa women’s 4x60 meter relay sa Phoenix Island.

“It feels great. Honestly, I came here not knowing what to expect. I really just wanted to have fun and see what I could do on sand,” sabi ni Laurance.

Nauna nang sumikwat ng tansong medalya si Laurance sa women’s 60m sprint noong Sabado.

Sa official medal tally ay mayroon nang tatlong golds, dalawang silvers at dalawang bronzes ang Team Philippines para sa third place sa likod ng China (13-11-4) at Thailand (4-5-3).

Ang kampanya ng de­legasyon ay suportado nina Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino at Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Patrick “Pato” Gre­gorio.

Sa women’s beach volleybal, tinalo nina Sunny Villapando at Grydelle Ma­tibag sina Shehani Ashanga Wattelage at Ktl Alawaththage ng Sri Lanka, 21-15, 21-13, sa kanilang Round of 16 match.

Sunod na lalabanan nina Villapando at Matibag sina Matsumoto Ren at Mat­sumoto Non ng Japan sa Last Eight.

Pinatumba naman nina Khylem Progella at Sofiah Pagara sina Kazakhstan duo Yekaterina Ryukhova at Kristina Karimova, 21-11, 21-14, papasok sa quarterfinals kung saan nila haharapin ang pambato ng Thailand.
