Perez, Austria nagkasagutan

MANILA, Philippines — Bago isalpak ni CJ Perez ang krusyal na four-point shot sa huling 41.8 segundo at ang paniguradong three-pointer sa natitirang 12.3 segundo sa fourth quarter ay nagkaroon muna sila ni San Miguel coach Leo Austria ng sagutan.

Ayon kay Perez, inireklamo ni Perez ang li­mi­tadong playing time niya sa first half sa 95-89 paglasing ng nagdedepensang Beermen sa TNT Tropang 5G sa Game Three ng Season 50 PBA Philippine Cup Finals noong Linggo.

“He wants to win by playing a lot of times. But as a coach, I know what’s happening, because we’re after the flow of the game,” ani Austria kay Perez.

“I have respect for e­verybody. But I want to let him know na I am the coach of the team and they should respect me also,” dagdag ng 10-time PBA champion coach.

Umiskor lamang ang 32-anyos na si Perez ng tatlong puntos sa first half kung saan kinuha ng TNT ang 50-44 halftime lead matapos makabangon mula sa 17-point deficit, 16-33, sa SMB sa first period.

Sa second half ay nagpaputok ang three-time scoring champion ng 17 points tampok ang 4-poin­ter at triple sa dulo ng fourth quarter para sa 2-1 lead ng Beermen sa kanilang best-of-seven championship series ng Tropang 5G.

“I apologized and he apologized,” sabi ng 67-anyos na si Austria kay Perez. “It turned out maganda ang nangyari. Nare-focus siya. Nakita ninyo, ayaw magpatalo.”

“Wala naman sa play, sadya lang pumasok. Thank God pumasok ang mga tira ko,” wika naman ni Perez sa kanyang dalawang mahalagang tirada.

Naniniwala si Austria na ayos na ang lahat sa kanila ni Perez para paghandaan ang Game Four bukas sa MOA Arena sa Pasay City.

“That’s already a thing of the past. After all we’re one team, we have to unite together para hind maapektuhan ‘yung team,” ani Austria sa tinaguriang ‘The Predator’.
