Maroons at Tamaraws kinumpleto ang Final Four

MANILA,Philippines — Naibulsa ng University of the Philippines at Far Eastern University ang kanilang ticket patu­ngo sa Final Four sa Season 82 UAAP men’s basketball tournament kahapon sa Yna­res Center sa Antipo­lo City.

Isang go-ahead slam dunk ang isinalpak ni Kobe Paras para iligtas ang Fighting Maroons sa mapanganib na La Salle Green Archers, 71-68, at inilampaso ng Ta­maraws ang University of the East Red Warriors, 82-58.

Inilayo ng dunk ni Paras mula sa magandang pasa ni Jun Manzo ang UP sa 70-68 sa huling 54.8 segundo ng fourth pe­riod para kunin ang se­cond spot sa 9-4 record.

Binura ng La Salle ang 10-point deficit para sikwatin ang 64-62 kala­mangan mula sa tatlong free throws ni Aljun Melecio sa 2:53 minuto.

Ngunit hindi nagpatibag sina Paras at Bright Akhuetie nang itarak ang 9-2 atake sa huling dalawang minuto ng fourth pe­riod tungo sa panalo ng Fighting Maroons.

“I mentioned to the guys we were not just figh­ting for the postion, but we we’re fighting for our survival as well. I just have to give honor to them, who just being warriors, Bright, Jun, every­body else who contribu­ted.” sabi ni UP coach Bo Perasol

Nagsumite si Akhuetie ng 17 points, 10 boards at 2 assists at 2 steals, habang kumamada naman ng 12 markers, 5 boards at 2 assista si Ricci Rivero.

Hindi rin nagpahuli si Manzo na may 11 pointss, 5 rebounds at 8 assists.

Nabalewala ang double-double na 17 points at 11 rebounds ni Jamie Malonzo bukod pa ang 12 markers at 8 boards ni Melecio sa panig ng Green Archers.

Ligwak na ang La Salle sa Final Four bunga ng 6-7 marka.

Sa unang laro, sumandal muli ang FEU kina Wendell Comboy at  ro­okie Royce Alforque para ma­kuha ang tiket sa Final Four.

Nagrehistro si Comboy ng 17 points katuwang si Alforque na may 13 markers at 3 assists pa­ra sa 8-6 baraha ng Ta­maraws. ()
