Ancajas-Yafai unification fight posible

MANILA, Philippines — Malaki ang posibilidad na matuloy ang unifica­tion championship fight nina Jerwin Ancajas at Kal Yafai ng United Kingdom.

Sinabi ni Eddie Hearn, ang promoter ng Briton world super flyweight king, na ikinukunsidera nila si Ancajas ng Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

Bukod kay Ancajas (30-1-1, 20 KOs), isa din si dating ‘pound-for-pound’ king Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (46-2-0, 38 KOs) sa nasa listahan ni Yafai (24-0-0, 15 KOs).

“He is ready for the challenge of unification but we also really like the Chocolatito fight and have already opened talks with his team. There’s exciting times ahead Kal, for sure,” wika ni Hearns sa panayam ng Sky Sports.

Tinalo ni Ancajas si Cebuano challenger Jonas Sul­tan (14-4-0, 9 KOs) via unanimous decision para pa­tuloy na isuot ang kanyang IBF super flyweight crown noong Linggo sa Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

Sa nasabi ring boxing card tinalo ni Yafai si Me­xican challenger David Carmona via seventh-round stoppage para sa matagumpay na pagdede­pen­sa sa bitbit na WBA super flyweight belt.

“Kal made a big statement over here and I can see him staying in the States for his next fight,” ani Hearn.

Samantala, bukas naman si dating IBF flyweight titlist Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes ((41-1-4, 23 KOs) para hamunin ang 25-anyos na si Ancajas sa isa na namang all-Pinoy championship bout.

Nakatakdang labanan ng 36-anyos na si Nietes ang Pinoy ding si Aston Palicte para sa bakanteng IBF super flyweight belt sa Agosto 18 sa Cebu Coliseum.
