“It’s easy to put up a structure,” sabi ni Roma-santa.  “The real challenge is making a relevant national training center self-sustaining.  How long will it last?  The worst thing that can happen is to build a white elephant.”

“Now that there’s ASIA, we can look into how other sports institutes are being run.  Qatar has the ASPIRE Academy.  Japan has its Ajinomoto National Training Center which is in the heart of Tokyo so you don’t really need a sprawling property.  Right now, we don’t even have a national stadium which we’ll need when we host the 2019 SEA Games. Our Rizal oval is antiquated and I don’t think that will serve our purpose in 2019,” ani Romasanta.
