Pinoy netters masusubukan ang galing

MANILA, Philippines - Masusubukan ang ga-ling ng top tennis players laban sa mga dayuhan sa paghataw ng PSC-Philta International Men’s Futures Open ngayon sa Valle Verde Country Club.

Awtomatikong pasok si world-ranked Jeson Patrombon sa main draw kasama ang kanyang mga kapwa national teammates na sina Francis Casey Alcantara, Patrick John Tierro at Johnny Arcilla pati na ang teenage rising star na si Alberto Lim Jr. na nabigyan ng wild cards spots sa $15,000 meet.

Ang 22-gulang na si Patrombon ay nakasiguro ng slot sa main draw dahil sa kanyang 1204th world ranking at makakasama niyang lalaban para sa Pinas ang apat pang Pinoy netters na galing sa tagumpay mula sa iba’t ibang torneo na inorganisa ng  Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Tennis Association, Pioneer Insurance, Babolat, Asian Tennis Federation at ni Philta president Mayor Edwin Olivarez.

“This is a good opportunity for our players to break into the pro circuit and earn world rankings,” sabi ni  Olivarez. “I’m confident we can have a very good showing because and we have a very promising bunch of players here.”

Sinabi ni PSC chair Richie Garcia na inaasahan niyang susuporta ang hometown crowd sa mga Pinoy players, sa top-level tournament  na ito.

Sina Alcantara at Lim, gayundin sina Arcilla at Tierro ay nabigyan naman ng doubles wildcard slots.

Ang mga wildcard entries  na sina Alcantara, Arcilla at Lim ay galing sa panalo sa Olivarez Open,  Gen. Santos City Tuna Festival at PCA (Philippine Columbian Association) Open, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Kasali rin sina Enrique Lopez-Perez ng Spain (ranked 354), Harry Bourchier ng Australia (509), Kento Takeuchi (513) at Arata Onozawa (591) ng Japan at si Vinayak Kaza ng India (655).
