Donaire patitikman ang kalabang Jamaican

MANILA, Philippines – Hindi pa nakakatikim ng kabiguan si Jamaican boxer Nicholas Walters sa kanyang 24 laban.

At kumpiyansa si Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. na magagawa niyang mantsahan ang naturang malinis na ring record ni Walters sa kanilang title unification fight sa Oktubre 18 sa StubHub Center sa Carson, California.

“I am very excited for this fight,” wika ni Donaire (33-2-0, 21 KOs) sa kanyang laban kay Walters (24-0-0, 20 KOs). “We are doing everything we can to be ready for everything Walters brings.”

Tangan ni Walters ang “regular” version WBA featherweight belt, samantalang bitbit ni Donaire ang “super” version.

Inangkin ni Donaire, tubong Talibon, Bohol, ang WBA featherweight title matapos ang kanyang technical decision victory laban kay Simpiwe Vetyeka noong Mayo 31 sa Macau, China.

Sa nasabi ring boxing card pinatumba ni Walters si Vic Darchinyan sa fifth round.

Ito ang ikaapat na sunod na KO victory ni Walters at ika-10 sa huli niyang 11 laban.

“This is my dream fight,” wika ni Walters sa kanyang pakikipagharap kay Donaire, ang 2012 Fighter of the Year awardee. “It’s now the time to show everyone who is the best 126-pound champion in the entire world.”

Ang title unification fight nina Donaire at Walters ay nasa undercard ng banggaan nina world middleweight king Gennady Golovkin at Marco Antonio Rubio. (RC)
