Parusa kay Guiao P100K multa

MANILA, Philippines - Sa ikalawang sunod na pagkakataon ay mu-ling pinatawan si Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao ng multang P100,000.

Ang nasabing multa ng PBA Commissioner’s Office kay Guiao ay mula sa pagsasabi nitong ‘mongoloid’ kay 6-foot-4 Fil-American Cliff Hodge ng Meralco sa kanilang komprontas-yon matapos ang 102-93 panalo ng Elasto Painters sa Bolts sa Game Two ng 2014 PBA Commissioner’s Cup noong Miyerkules sa Smart Arenata Coliseum.

“We find the conduct of Coach Guiao unbecoming and unaccep-table on two counts: first, accosting and insulting a player with total disregard for civility and circumspection; second, using the word ‘mongo-loid,’ a derogatory term alluding to people with Down’s syndrome,” ani PBA Commissioner Chito Salud.

Ang inasta ni Guiao ay mula sa pananapok ni Hodge kay Rain or Shine rookie center Raymond Almazan sa isang rebound play sa dulo ng fourth quarter.

Matapos ang laro ay nagpaiwan sa dulo ng court si Guiao at inaba-ngan si Hodge bago niya ito binulyawan hanggang naawat ng mga team officials.

Ito ang ikalawang pagkakataon na pinagmulta ng PBA si Guiao ng P100,000 matapos noong semifinals series ng Elasto Painters at Petron Blaze Boosters sa nakaraang PBA Philippine Cup.

Sa championship series laban sa San Mig Coffee ay pinagbayad ng PBA ang Rain or Shine ng P2 milyon dahil sa ginawang partial walkout sa Game 6.

Sa kabuuan ay uma-bot na sa P1.35 mil-yon, kasama rito ang P426,000 mula sa Rain or Shine walkout sa Finals, ang multang nakolekta mula kay Guiao.

Dahil naman sa pagsapok ni Hodge kay Almazan ay pinagmulta ang Fil-Am cager ng P20,000.

“The foul committed by Meralco’s Cliff Hodge on Rain or Shine’s Raymond Almazan at the 35 second mark of the 4th quarter of game 2 of the Commissioner’s Cup Quarterfinals series is hereby upgraded to a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 for being excessive and unnecessary. The review shows that Hodge during a rebound play hit the face of Almazan with a closed fist,” sabi ng PBA chief. “A fine is hereby imposed on Hodge in the amount of twenty thousand pesos (Php 20,000.00).”
