Sa hangaring kunin ang ikalawang semifinals berth Air21 asam ang sweep

MANILA, Philippines - Hangad ng No. 7 Air21 na makapasok sa ka­una-unahan nilang se­mifinals appearance, habang pipilitin naman ng No. 2 San Miguel Beer na makabawi para angkinin ang ikalawang semifinals ticket.

Magsasagupa ang Beer­men at ang Express nga­yong alas-8 ng gabi sa kanilang ‘winner-take-all’ match sa quarterfinal round ng 2014 PBA Commissioner’s Cup sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Itinulak ng Air21 ang San Miguel Beer sa ‘do-or-die’ game nang itakbo ang 92-79 panalo noong nakaraang Martes.

Humugot si small forward Sean Anthony ng 21 sa kanyang 25 points sa second half at kumolekta naman ang 40-anyos na si Asi Taulava ng 17 mar­kers at 8 rebounds para sa nasabing tagumpay ng Ex­­press sa Beermen.

Alam ni Air21 coach Franz Pumaren na magpi­pilit rumesbak ang San Mi­guel Beer.

“We’re expecting San Miguel to be prepared by then. I just hope that we will still continue what we are capable of doing,” sabi ni Pumaren.

“Playing the number two team in this confe­rence is tough,” dagdag pa nito sa Beermen.

Ang mananalo sa laba­nan ng San Miguel Beer, may hawak na ‘twice-to-beat’ advantage sa quar­ter­finals, at ng Air21 ang sa­sagupa sa mananaig sa best-of-three quarterfinals se­ries ng nagdedepensang Alaska at San Mig Coffee para sa best-of-five semi­fi­nals series.

Ang mananaig naman sa serye ng No. 4 Rain or Shine at No. 5 Meralco ang makakatapat ng Talk ‘N Text sa isa pang best-of-five semifinals showdown.

Nagtabla sa 1-1 ang mga serye ng Aces, Mi­xers, Elasto Painters at Bolts.

Sinikwat ng Tropang Texters, nagbitbit ng ‘twice-to-beat’ advantage, ang unang semifinals berth matapos sibakin ang No. 8 Ginebra Gin Kings, 97-84, noong Martes.
