100 Islands 100K Int’l Ultra Marathon sa Mar. 15-16

MANILA, Philippines - Para i-promote ang major tourist spots ng Pangasinan, idaraos ng provincial at  local government officials katulong ang mga private groups ang kauna-unahang Hundred Islands 100-kilometer International  Ultra Marathon sa March 15-16 sa Alaminos City.

 â€œWe want to promote the Hundred Islands not only as a local but also as an international tourist destination, which is the main reason we are organizing this ultra marathon,” sabi ni Alaminos 100 president and co-organizer Jones Campos sa PSA Forum kahapon sa Shakey’s Malate.

Kasama ni Campos sa session na handog ng Shakey’s, Accel at Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. sina Kazel Celeste na kumatawan sa kanyang amang si Alaminos Mayor Arthur Celeste, race director Philip Pacle ng RenderFarm Sports at ni Ruby Bernardino, kumatawan para kay Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino.

 â€œWe have the full support of Mayor Celeste, Gov. Espino, and the other mayors of Bani, Anda, and Bolinao behind this project because we want Western Pangasinan, Alaminos in particular, to be recognized as a site for world-class sporting events,” sabi ni Campos, beterano sa public relations at advertising.

 Sinabi ni Pacle na ang  Ultra Marathon ay two-in-one event dahil ang 100-km. marathon ay pakakawalan ng Sabado ng gabi mula sa Lucap wharf ng Alaminos, kung saan naroroon ang Hundred Islands at dadaan sa bayan ng Bani, Anda at Bolinao at babalik sa wharf.

Mayroon ding 50-kilometer marathon ng Linggo (March 16) na pakakawalan sa Bolinao at magtatapos din sa Lucas wharf, ayon pa kay Pacle na isa ring marathoner.

Ayon kay Pacle, ilan sa mga nagpasabi na ng kanilang intensiyong sumali sa karerang may P300,000 total prize, ay sina 2013 The North Face 100K Challenge champion Arnold Lozano ng Baguio City at reigning BDM 100K king Joel Bengtay ng La Trinidad, Benguet bukod pa kina marathon veteran Cresenciano Sabal na mangunguna sa Army team at ang tinaguriang “Pinoy-Kenyan” na si Marcelo Bautista.

May nagpalista na ring Kenyan runners at isang elite runner mula sa London.

 Ang men’s at women’s champions ng Hundred Islands Ultra Marathon ay tatanggap ng P100,000 bawat isa habang ang runner’s-up at third placers, ay may P30,000 at P20,000, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

 Sa 50K marathon, ang premyo ay  P20,000 sa champion ng bawat division at may P10,000 at P7,000, ang runner-up at third placer ayon sa pagkakasunod.

 Ang registration fee ay P3,500 sa ultra marathon at P3,000 para sa 50K marathon.
