Pinas bigo sa hosting ng Olympic qualifying

MANILA, Philippines — Pormal nang itinalaga ng International Olympic Committee (IOC) Boxing Task Force ang Jordan na maging kapalit na host country para sa 2020 Asia-Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament na nakatakda sa Marso 3 hanggang 11.

Inihayag kahapon ng IOC Boxing Task Force na ang Amman, Jordan ang magiging bagong host ng Olympic qualifying.

“After a careful review of all alternatives, the BTF (Boxing Task Force) approved the proposal of the Jor­dan Olympic Committee today, in order to confirm the competition dates and lo­cation as soon as possi­ble, in the best interest of the athletes preparing for the qualifier,” ayon sa statement ng IOC Boxing Task Force.

Magugunitang kinanse­la ng IOC Boxing Task Force ang event sa Wuhan, China matapos kuma­lat ang coronavirus kung sa­an ilan sa mga tinamaan nito ang namatay.

Kaya naman masusing pinag-aralan ng IOC ang su­nod na mga hakbang at nagdesisyong sa Jordan ganapin ang Olympic qualifying base sa inilatag na proposal ng Jordan Olympic Committee.

Kabilang ang Pilipinas sa mga pinagpilian ng IOC Bo­xing Task Force.

Subalit bigo ang Asso­cia­tion of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) na makuha ang boto ng Olympic body.

Pakay ng ABAP na ma­­lampasan ang bilang ng mga qualifiers noong 2016 Rio Olympics.

Nakahirit sina Southeast Asian Games gold me­dalists Ro­gen Ladon at Charly Sua­rez ng ti­ket sa Rio Games.

Ngunit parehong nabigo sina Ladon at Suarez na umabante sa medal round.
