Mojdeh, Paredes at Mirandilla asam ang gold medal

SEMARANG, Indonesia -- Sasalang ngayong araw ang tatlong Swimming Pinas tankers na tangkang masungkit ang unang gintong medalya sa pag­sisimula ng 11th Asean School Games swimming competition dito.

Unang sasabak si Phi­lippine national junior record hol­der Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh ng Brent Internatio­nal School na masisilayan sa girls’ 50m butterfly, ha­bang bahagi rin siya ng girls’ 4x100m freestyle re­lay.

Sasabak naman sa ak­syon sina John Neil Pa­redes at Jules Mervien Mi­randilla sa boys’ 50m butterfly sa unang araw ng kompetisyon.

Idaraos ang prelimina­ry round sa umaga kung saan ang Top 8 swimmers sa bawat event ang uusad sa finals na gaganapin naman sa hapon.

Optimistiko si Swimming Pinas team manager Joan Mojdeh sa magi­ging kampanya ng mga Pinoy tan­kers.

“Mas matatanda at mas matatangkad ang mga ma­kakalaban ng swimmers natin kaya it’s going to be tough to win a medal here. But we are optimistic. Our swim­mers trained hard for this and we are hoping for the best,” wika ni Mojdeh.

Lalaruin sa Day 2 ang 800m freestyle, 200m In­dividual Medley, 200m but­terfly, 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke at 4x100m medley relay.

Sa Day 3 ay aarangka­da ang 400m Individual Medley, 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 50m breaststroke at 4x100m med­ley relay, habang sa hu­ling araw ng laban masi­silayan ang 1,500m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m freestyle at 4x200m freestyle re­lay.
