Chris Co - Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines -  Mapapasama ang Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association sa listahan ng mga pararangalan sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Annual Awards Night na gaganapin sa Pebrero 13 sa Le Pavillon sa Pasay City.

Kikilalananin ang Patafa bilang National Sports Association of the Year matapos ang magandang programa nito sa nakalipas na taon na nagresulta upang magkwalipika ang tatlong tracksters sa 2016 Olympic Games sa Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Nakuha nina Eric Shauwn Cray (men’s 400m hurdles), Marestella Torres-Sunang (women’s long jump) at Mary Joy Tabal (women’s marathon) ang qualifying standards sa kani-kanilang events para sa Rio Games.

Ito ang ikalawang pagkakataon na nakuha ng Patafa ang NSA of the Year award--ang una noong 2009 nang magbulsa ang athletics team ng pitong gintong medalya sa Southeast Asian Games sa Vientiane, Laos.

Ang iba pang NSA of the Year awardees ay ang Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Philippine Taekwondo Association, Wushu Federation of the Philippines, Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines,  Philippine Aquatics Sports Association at Philippine Dragonboat Association.

Nauna nang pinangalanan si Patafa president Philip Ella Juico bilang Executive of the Year.

May kabuuang 92 personalidad at grupo ang gagawaran ngayong taon sa pangunguna ni Rio De Janeiro Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz na siyang PSA Athlete of the Year.

Papangalanan din ang dalawang pinakamahusay na bagitong atleta bilang Male at Female Junior Athlete of the Year gayundin ang iba pang natatanging kabataang atleta na nagpasiklab sa nakalipas na taon.
