Phoenix, Air21 gustong bilhin ang Barako Bull
MANILA, Philippines – Kinumpirma ng isang team insider na seryoso ang Barako Bull sa pakikipag-usap sa isang prospective franchise buyer na posibleng magtampok sa bagong ball club sa kasalukuyang PBA season.
“What can I say for now is that there’s really a serious discussion. How soon or how close it is to be a done deal is something I don’t know. It’s a high-level talk and very sensitive,” wika ng source.
Ang Phoenix Petroleum o Air21 ang tinutukoy na kausap ngayon ng Barako Bull.
Ang Air21 Express at Barako Bull Energy ay dating sister teams sa ilalim ng Lina Group umbrella bago binili ng NLEX Road Warriors ang prangkisa ng Air21 noong 2014.
“Air21’s return to the PBA is always a possibility, but not at this time,” sabi ng source.
Samantala, nagsumite ng aplikasyon ang Phoenix Petroleum para sa PBA membership bago pa ang NLEX, Mahindra at Blackwater.
Ngunit hindi naaprubahan ang pagpasok ng Phoenix dahil sa ginagamit ng San Miguel Beer ang banner ng Petron Blaze.
Nakabitin naman ang PBA application ng Lamoiyan Group at Racal Motors.
Ang isang franchise sale ay dapat makakuha ng two-thirds votes ng membership ng 12-team local pro league.
